驰名桥下云吞面 [Alor Setar Famous Wan Tan Mee]

This post will be about a family-business which sells Wan Tan Mee at their own house. Uh-huh, if you're finding for this Wan Tan Mee restaurant, do think of a single storey terrace house ☺

This is the plate of Wan Tan Mee which really looks small in portion when it
first arrived on our table. But as we all know, Wan Tan Mee is pretty standard.
If you order small, you get 1 ball of noodle. If you order big, you get two balls!
Now, this is the add-on soup that we ordered. Unlike the normal dried
Wan Tan Mee, you do not automatically get a bowl of free soup together
with the noodles. You have to order it separately like this.
PS: THIS IS TO DIE FOR. YUMMMMMS!

I remember that we reached the stall around 6.30PM in the evening. Since we were there before the opening time, we had to wait before they take orders. By the time they took our order, there was already a small little crowd sitting around waiting for food. To order, just go to the stall and tell the person what you want to eat. There's not much choice really. Just Wan Tan Mee, Wan Tan soup, white chicken and also char-siew. After ordering, be prepared to wait patiently for your food to come. I think boyfie and I waited for like more than half an hour before that mini-plate of noodle was placed on our table.

This shop is located below a bridge, the Jalan Alor Mengkudu bridge. Well, I call it that way because I saw a road sign labeling the road towards the bridge as Jalan Alor Mengkudu. I am not from Alor Setar so I can't really describe the place well.

We parked the car right outside the terrace house, so I was able to take a shot
of the front of the shop. Well, the shop is on the left side, not the gated right side.

We gave our order to this uncle. He has been cutting chicken and pork ever
since we set foot in the house. But he remembers our order well :)

The boss of this stall would be the man behind there, holding the super
delicious looking piece of char siew! In this picture, you can also see that
they also bought the other house on the right hand side. Many customers
found a table and sat there to wait for their noodle.

Location of the shop:
Stall 1001B, Bee Bee Park
Jalan Alor Mengkudu,
Alor Setar.

Opening hours:
7.00PM - 11.30PM
(CLOSED ON SATURDAYS)

Spaghetti Aglio Olio

It's been quite some time since I last posted a recipe. To be honest, I didn't really have the mood to blog about anything as I was really busy with Chinese New Year. I did manage to cook some dishes during that period so I took some pictures while cooking and decided to save it for later. So, today I am going to post about my favourite pasta dish, Spaghetti Aglio Olio ♥

Ingredients:

1/2 cup of extra virgin olive oil
2 medium-sized garlic cloves
400g of spaghetti
3-4 chili padi
A sprinkle of black peppercorns
A few stalks of basil
Salt

Han Woo Ri Korean Restaurant [Taipan USJ]

Back in the holidays, I brought my Yeobo and also my old classmate Yong Qi to have some Korean food because Yeobo was having this samgyupsal craving since months ago. We didn't want to go back to Daorae because we have already tried that several times. Despite the fact that we know Korean barbeque probably has all the same stuffs and taste pretty much the same anywhere, I guess I just wanted to try a new place. I googled around for Korean restaurants in Taipan USJ and to my surprise, there is another Korean restaurant located at the other end of the building where Daorae is situated. So I thought to myself, "Han Woo Ri, it is."

Since there were only the 3 of us, we ordered a minimum of 2 person serving. Of course, we ordered the original samgyupsal and the other one was probably some marinated pork belly too. I don't really remember clearly now. Once we were seated and done placing our order, the waiter started to serve us our starter which is soup. Now, this is not done in all places so I think I should give a plus point to this restaurant for serving one of my favourites!

Ooooh, me loves soup! ♥

Then, up comes the samgyupsal and also the other side dishes.

I am hungry, just by looking at this right now.
Oh, not to forget! We also ordered a nice plate of ddukbeokki (korean rice cakes)

I love the rice cakes... but I like the plate even more! It's so antique!

I don't remember the prices of the dishes but I can tell you that it is around the same price range as all the other Korean restaurants. By the end of the day, I remember the 3 of us splitting the bill and each of us had to pay RM25-30. For a meal like this, I guess it is not cheap, so to say, but it is reasonable if compared with others. Oh by the way, I really like this restaurant because their waiters are so polite. Like... they smile ALL THE TIME. Whatever you need, they can get it for you in like half a minute! The service is really good and that is a double plus point! ☺

Location of the restaurant:
3rd Floor
Jalan USJ 10/1J (Taipan USJ),
47620 Subang Jaya,
Selangor

Opening time:
Open daily
11AM-3PM (Brunch and Lunch)
6PM-11PM (Dinner)

Contact number:  03-8023 3357

Happy eatin' ☺

Burger Bakar Abang Burn [Alor Setar]

About a month ago, I went to Alor Setar again with my friends to have a day trip for them to settle some stuff. Once we reach there, we had Nasi Lemak Ong. To my friends, it was their first time having Nasi Lemak Ong and they were all very excited about it. Obviously, they loved it very much too, despite the fact they had to queue very long. At night, before heading back to campus, all of us decided to have burger bakar for dinner. If you're Malaysian, I'm sure you know burger bakar is the 'in' thing now! There is burger bakar everywhere!

So, the one we went to was Burger Bakar Abang Burn. This one is quite famous and I guess many people have been talking about it. When we finally reach there on that fateful night, it was raining cats and dogs. Thank goodness there was a huge umbrella in the car to at least give us some cover but our sandals were totally soaked through. The only parking was at the roadside in front of the shop so I guess there isn't much we can do to avoid the rain.

So this is the exterior of the shop. It was raining heavily so it is unavailable
for seating.

The interior of the shop is brightly lit and clean. Thank goodness, this is
a burger bakar shop rather than a stall only.

So, we took turns to order at the counter. The moment we enter the shop, we will see the grill and cashier anyway, so you can make your order there.

This is the menu if you guys want to know the items and also the price.

Yup, this is where you order it.

If they have a few patties already grilled before you arrive, then you need not wait long before your burger is served. If what you order is not yet cooked, then it does take some time for the burger to be ready. So, if you're hungry, ask them which burger can be served up the fastest! :D

This is my friend's burger. I guess it must be one of the Supremo's that comes
with three sausages and also cheese. But I don't remember how much he paid for it!

This is my Burn Cheesy Lamb ♥ RM 11.50
PS: The onion rings on top were pretty much cold, though.

Happy eatin' ☺
