Breakfast in Sungai Petani - Fish Head Bee Hun Noodles, Kuey Teow Soup, Seafood Porridge and Meat Porridge

Boyfie and I decided that we should start with our breakfast hunting in Sungai Petani since we didn't know what kind of food is there available in the the mornings. To our surprise, as we travelled through town area there are quite a number of kopitiam (local coffee shop) which are open in the morning! The night before, I did some online research to find for places which serve breakfast in Sungai Petani and I found this little coffee shop which sells Bee Hun soup and also Kuey Teow soup. So, this morning, we headed out looking for this coffee shop which apparently is situated very near to the traffic light turning into Taman Patani Jaya. We can still see it from the main road towards Central Square.

Fish Head Bee Hun Noodle

This is the only stall selling food in the morning. The rest of the stalls are
closed. Most of the food from this shop cost RM 5, except for the Kuey
Teow Soup which cost RM 3.

This is the coffee shop's name! SIN HER PIAN RESTAURANT ☺

In my opinion, the noodle was a bit too bland for my taste. It would have tasted loads better if it was a bit more saltier or with a stronger soup. But then again, that's just my personal preference! So, breakfast hunting Spot #1 is done! I saw many more other places this morning in which we will definitely try out the next time!

Happy eatin' ☺

Macaroni and Cheese with Potato (Rice Cooker Recipe)

Yay! My first attempt at making Mac and Cheese was a success! Honestly, I've not cooked Mac and Cheese on the stove top or through baking before this. I just had an idea and shot straight to this rice cooker recipe which I've thought of myself. Thank God, everything turned out okay despite the over-addition of milk! Oh, I also made boiled broccoli and topped them with extra cheese sauce too, as a simple side dish ☺

Ingredients:

300g of macaroni
2 cubes of chicken stock
200ml of low-fat milk
2 medium-sized potatoes
1 broccoli
12 slices of square cheddar cheese
Salt
Pepper
Red chilli flakes

Kangnaru - Korean Barbeque in Sungai Petani Town

Went out with the roomies and (of course) the boyfie today, to celebrate one of my roommate's birthday! We decided that we will go for lunch at this Korean restaurant which is operated by a real Korean lady in the nearby town area. It is called, KANGNARU.

So, honest to God, I love Korean food. Not that I can stomach them every single day. Yet, the craving for Korean cuisine happens when I've been deprived of it for a few weeks. This small little restaurant is one of them which I think are worth the money and also serves yummy food and gives us generous portions of side-dishes with unlimited refills!

About our meal today, we ordered 2 person servings (this is the minimum number of servings that needs to be ordered for BBQ) of samgyupsal (pork belly) and another 2 person servings of chicken meat for our barbeque set. We added on another seafood pancake which is pretty expensive to me but SUPER DUPER TASTY. Lastly, we also ordered a big sized Kimchi soup that has like pork, tofu, ramen and loads of kimchi in it! Oh gosh, now that I think of it, I am starting to get hungry again!

♥☺♥

Well, sorry to say, I didn't take much close up shots of the dishes because we were so hungry and I was in the mood of celebrating my roomie's birthday. I took these photos from my boyfie who wanted to Instagram his food, so that's why I would still be able to add in some photos into this post. Otherwise, it would just be a dull picture-less blog post.

As you can see from the pictures above, the pot of kimchi soup is really huge :D This pot cost us about RM 42 whereas the pork belly and chicken meat each cost RM 23 respectively. I am not really sure about the seafood pancake though, but if I am not mistaken it should cost around RM 20. Well, in the end, our bill came up to RM 108 and the 5 of us were filled to the top of tummies!

Location of the shop:

No. 308, Lorong 9
Jalan Kelab Cinta Sayang,
08000 Sungai Petani.

Opening hours: MONDAY TO SUNDAY
Lunch shift: 10.00AM - 2.30PM
Dinner shift: 5.00PM - 10.30PM

If you're craving for Korean cuisine, this place really is a good place to go!

Egg-Drop Porridge with Seaweed for a Single Person Serving (Rice Cooker Recipe)

Woke up late today after dozing off for an evening nap, so I was lazy to go down to the cafeteria for dinner. Coincidentally, the cafeteria was also suppose to be serving porridge for dinner today... heehee! Anyway, I decided I should make my own porridge despite not having any extra ingredients except the left over eggs I had from making the egg mayo sandwich. Soooo, I created this egg-drop porridge tonight for dinner ☺

Ingredients:

3 soup spoons of uncooked white rice
1 large egg
450ml of water
Soy sauce
Pepper
Seasoned seaweed

Vegetarian Spiral Pasta with Broccoli (Rice Cooker recipe)

No class at all today, so I had a lot of free time to do the things that I like to do... and cook the food that I like to eat :P

Well, todaaaay, I made vegetarian pasta for myself (of course) and also my roommates + housemates. It had to be vegetarian because I couldn't keep any meat or frozen stuff without a fridge. Also, my roomies are both vegetarian for a few days. So, while eating the pasta, I am typing this ☺☺☺

Ingredients:
1 medium sized broccoli
2 300ml cans of pasta sauce
1 packet of vegeroni spiral pasta
1 can of whole button mushrooms
1 large size tomato

Egg with Mayonnaise Sandwich - Simple student's recipe!

This will be a simple recipe in which the only appliance that you will need is an automatic rice cooker.
Since I am in campus nowadays, all I have with me is my trusty little 3-cup Panasonic rice cooker to cook with. I guess most of the university students who live in hostels like me, all have the same issue of an incomplete kitchen/pantry.

The ingredients:

A loaf of wholemeal bread
3 large size eggs
Approx. 2 tbsp of mayonnaise
1 large tomato

The Dining Cafe - p.a.t.h.

Guess what guys, today I received a sweet surprise from my partner and we went out for our first date :)
Therefore, I am going to share about the cafe that we went to for our dinner date. The cafe has great ambience, beautiful modern woodwork and also very tasty food! I have never been to a fusion-kind of cafe like this and still taste great food! Awwww, I still feel so yums to the tums now! I wish I was still there now, enjoying my meal!

So, tonight we both had set meals which are pretty worth the deal (in my opinion, of course).
First, I'll show you my set meal. It is called the Teriyaki Salmon with Rice meal which comes with the main course, one slice of cake of your choice and also a glass of drink! All these for RM20+ (couldn't remember the exact figure).

This was the superb teriyaki salmon. It came with a bowl of rice which
I did not capture in this picture. Even after it has turned slightly cold,
the salmon was still very tasty. Plus, even the sweetcorn tasted yummy!

This is their homemade pumpkin cake. I doubt many people had tried such
a cake before. It has a really special texture, but it was just okay for me.
Don't be fooled by the picture though, it really isn't too big in size.

Next, I'll show you his set meal. It is called the Homemade Hamburger Steak which is basically made up of pork. It comes with the main course, a bowl of homemade mushroom soup which is super creamy and delicious, plus a glass of drink. This set cost RM 16.90, this I am sure :P

The pork patty was soft and succulent with the barbeque sauce all over it!
The patty was thick too, so it is filling enough for dinner :)

We also ordered an ala carte which are these pork meatballs. God, this is by far the bomb of the night. Have you ever tasted anything so crispy on the outside but soft and succulent on the inside? No? Man, try this!

This p.a.t.h. cafe is by far the most interesting cafe I've ever dined in, in Sungai Petani. I never thought such place even existed in such a small town! All thanks to my sayang who asked the local students and found out about this place through them! Since this cafe is really modern and stuff, they have their own Facebook page and also their very own blog! Check them out to get the latest info about promotions from this cafe :)
