Vegetarian Spiral Pasta with Broccoli (Rice Cooker recipe)

No class at all today, so I had a lot of free time to do the things that I like to do... and cook the food that I like to eat :P

Well, todaaaay, I made vegetarian pasta for myself (of course) and also my roommates + housemates. It had to be vegetarian because I couldn't keep any meat or frozen stuff without a fridge. Also, my roomies are both vegetarian for a few days. So, while eating the pasta, I am typing this ☺☺☺

Ingredients:
1 medium sized broccoli
2 300ml cans of pasta sauce
1 packet of vegeroni spiral pasta
1 can of whole button mushrooms
1 large size tomato
[Click 'read more' to check out the recipe!]

STEP 1: PREPARE THE INGREDIENTS

Cut up the broccoli and soak in water for awhile.

Remove from can and wash the button mushrooms. Slice them up.

Cut the tomato into small triangles, as shown.

Put the ingredients in separate bowls and set aside for later use.

Oh by the way, this is the pasta sauce and also pasta that I used.

STEP 2: COOK THE BROCCOLI

Add water into the  rice cooker and press 'cook'. Once it boils, add in
the broccoli and cover it. Boil the broccoli for 2-3 minutes, or until tender.

STEP 3: COOK THE PASTA

Once the broccoli is done, stop the 'cook' button, remove from rice cooker and set it aside. Throw away the remaining water.

Fill the rice cooker with water again and press 'cook'. Once the water
boils, add in the pasta and close the lid. Do not leave your rice cooker
unattended at this moment as it may boil and overflow.

Let the pasta cook for about 8 minutes or until it is your preferred
texture. You can try them to see whether they are soft enough. At
this point, my pasta is good enough and ready.

STEP 4: COOK THE PASTA SAUCE

Add the two cans of pasta sauce into the rice cooker and press 'cook'.
Remember to stir frequently as the sauce at the bottom may easily burn.

When the sauce starts to heat up, add in the button mushrooms. Mix well.

Quickly, take the stem of the broccoli and cut them up into small pieces.

Add the broccoli stem into sauce and stir well again.

Lastly, add in the tomatoes and mix well.

Allow the tomatoes to simmer for 2-3 minutes before switching
off the power of the rice cooker. The sauce is now done :)

STEP 5: SERVE IT UP!

Okay, so now, grab a bowl. Dish some spiral pasta into the bowl and then pour some pasta sauce on it! Lastly, grab some boiled broccoli and arrange them on the side of the bowl to make them presentable :D
That's it! Time to dig in, peepo's! ☺

Update: As for now, whole pot of pasta has been finished by my lovely roomies and also housemates! I do feel happy that they liked it, at least ♥♥♥

Do leave a comment to tell if you liked this rice cooker recipe :)
Happy cookin' ☺
