How to Cook Instant Noodles in a Healthier Way

So, the yummy love of my life and forever topping the list of my favourite food would be this: instant noodles.
Yes, the super unhealthy, loaded with fats, first fried then dried, MSG-filled seasoning kind of instant noodles. Who in this world doesn't like instant noodles? I don't know, but I find that most of my peers just love instant noodles as much as I do.

Instant noodles are like the God of all food, especially to a student. Imagine, it is easy to cook, cheap, convenient to get and most importantly, comes in all sorts of flavours and texture. You name it. They are best comfort you can find when you're hungry from some late night studying or when you're rushing assignments. Or maybe, you're just too busy or lazy to even go buy some proper food outside. Instant noodles are like the one-stop solution to your hunger :D

Unfortunately, it is damn unhealthy.Well, it is processed food that can be kept on shelves for like years so, it is kind of obvious that the preservatives alone are a big deal. Plus, their seasonings and the MSG content blah blah blah... yes, in conclusion it has almost zero healthy nutrients except for carbohydrates, fats and a whole lot of sodium content.

So, today I am going to share how I usually cook my instant noodles, in which I think is a healthier way to eat it. I think I learned this from my grandmother... when I was younger. Teehee!

So, this is what I chose to eat for my dinner/supper tonight!

STEP 1: PREPARE THE SOUP BASE

Boil a pot of water.

Take a clean bowl and empty all the sachet of seasonings into the bowl.

Once the water boils, ladle about 4 scoops of water into the bowl.

When the water is still very hot, quickly add an egg.
Of course, this step is totally optional!

STEP 2: COOK THE NOODLES

Add the instant noodle into the remaining boiling water in the pot.

Stir occasionally to separate the noodles. Once cooked until your preferred
texture, drain the noodles.

Add the noodles into the bowl containing the soup base.
TADAAA! Get ready to eat it! *slurp*

Well, as you can see, I prepared a soup base separately because:
  1. I do not want to boil the seasoning. Apparently, I read it from somewhere which says boiling the seasoning powder will change its chemical structure and make it very bad for our body!
  2. I do not want to have wax in my soup. If we add seasoning into the water that we use to cook the noodles, it just means you will be drinking that water as soup and it will contain wax which is removed from the noodle during the cooking process. This wax is super bad for our body as it takes a long time to digest and sometimes, it may even accumulate in our body if we eat instant noodles very frequently.
With all that is said, even if this is a healthier way of consuming instant noodles, do remember that it is still not a proper meal that supplies only empty calories! Even if you really love instant noodles and cannot resist from having it, try to limit yourself to once a week alright! I guess it will be better this way :)

Happy cookin' ☺
