'Dua ban' (a hokkien word) is actually what we call 滑蛋河 in Cantonese (or at least what we call it in KL). After coming to Semeling, only did I have the chance to venture into this small Kampung Semeling where everybody knows everybody. Students from my university frequent these local stores for lunch and dinner because they are cheap and big in portions. They are really tasty too, alright!
A plate of dua ban like above will cost about RM 4.50 to RM 5.50, depending on whether you want or don't want the fish meat. Just look at the size of the prawn and you will know how worthy it is!
Another dish that I just tried for the first one would be their 'moi' which is actually suppose to be porridge in Hokkien language. Yet, it came out to be a basic home dish and in my opinion, it is what we, Cantonese-speaking banana's, would call as 饭加汤.
Check out the size of the pieces of fish meat. The portion of rice they give you is also pretty huge so you will definitely feel full before even finishing the bowl of 'moi'.
UPDATE: I went to Robert's again today and had my favourite Yee Mee! Such a good meal for a cold rainy day like today. This plate of Yee Mee cost RM 5.50!
This stall is placed outside Nam Hooi Cafe which is pretty hard to distinguish from other shops which are there too. Still, an old aunty would be doing all the frying outside while an old man would be doing the serving. Oh by the way, a big chubby middle aged man will be serving you drinks!
This place is one of my greatest discoveries ever since entering Uni. If you people are nearby this area, you can try their food too.
Bear in mind though, the shop usually opens from 6.30pm onwards and only does night shifts so don't bother going there for lunch. Oh, it's closed on Mondays too!
Happy eatin' ☺
